Why can't I see how far my upload has progressed?
HTTPS
HTTPS file transfer is a browser controlled process. When an upload is initiated the browser is told which file to upload and what to do afterwards and what in case of an error. Whether you can see how far the upload has progressed depends on the browser that you are using.
The following browsers display a progress bar during file transfer: Microsoft Internet Explorer, Mozilla, Opera
SFTP
Nearly all SFTP clients display the progress of a file transfer.

Can I use any archive tools I want?
Use only the common compression and archiving tools such as: WinZip, WinRar, Tar, Gzip, Cpio.

Is there any way to calculate how long the upload will take?
No, several factors that are of influence on the upload speed are the speed of the computer doing the uploading, the reliability of the phoneline [in case of the modem and ISDN connections], the amount of traffic on your ISP's network, the amount of speed on our host's network, etc.
